The Rio haunted house, sponsored by the Rio Community Club, Keller Williams Realty and WI River Title Consultants was open for the first time on Sunday, October 26th. Over 300 area residents brought their children, (or were children-for-the-day) to see and hear the ghosts, goblins, skeletons, a mad scientist, a morgue and more, more, more.  Gift certificates were awarded to trick-or-treaters after random drawings.  In addition to the thrills and chills, children were given treats, popcorn and bottled water as they left.

 With the season the volleyball team had last year things really couldn’t get much worse.  The Varsity was looking at a grand total of three wins for the entire 2007 – 2008 season under former coach Leilani Marcellino. This year the Varsity has seized a new head coach Ms. Tracey Beechner.

It is hard not to be a “Debbie Downer” when it comes to feelings about the economy lately. U.S. stock, gasoline, oil, and grocery prices are soaring.  It is not a stretch at all to say the financial system is greatly suffering.

The Rio Vikings varsity football team went into the last few weeks of summer not knowing what to expect for the upcoming season.
