The Village of Rio is a small, friendly community in the heart of Wisconsin farm country, near the Wisconsin River. Located just inside the unglaciated area of the state, the region is rich in wooded and lake areas which provide many opportunities for outdoor activities. The village is close to the city of Madison (population 200,000) and other, large communities which offer many entertainment, cultural and shopping possibilities.

The Village covers approximately 421 acres* of land, and had a 2000 Census population of 938 people.
