The Rio Community Club announces the formation of the Rio Area Historical Society and they want YOU to be a part of Rio history.

2008 marks the start of the Rio Historical Society.  The Society is sponsored by the Rio Community Club.  Steering committee members include Shirley Nelson, Don Hohlstein, Bob Adams and Michelle Wilson.  This group is excited about Rio history, and hope you are too. 

The Society is looking for volunteers of any age and any interest level to help form the Rio Area Historical Society.  They need help identifying photos, sorting, organizing, categorizing and eventually scanning all the documents to preserve an electronic copy of the collection.  In addition to volunteers, The Society is also accepting monetary donations to fund the project, historical items, photos and donations of existing Rio family genealogies. 

The Rio Area Historical Society meets the first and fourth Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m. at the Rio Community Library.   If you are a community member who would like to join please feel free to contact any of the following people:

If you are interested in helping but cannot attend the scheduled morning meeting times please let the committee know.  Depending on interest level the meeting time may be modified.
