The following is a letter to the editor from 47th Assembly District Candidate Trish O'Neil addressing the  flooding that has devistated many towns and residents in our area. Dear Editor,
 
Since June 8th, 2008 life for many of the residents of the 47th District and surrounding areas has been turned upside down.  When the torrential rains began on Sunday, it didn't take long to realize that flooding was going to be an issue. The unfolding events over the next week were heartbreaking to watch and the stories were almost unbelievable.  I want to express my heartfelt sympathy to the people whose homes have been devastated, and possessions lost.  I want to thank the many volunteers who have given of themselves to help their friends & neighbors. It has created a sense of community that we sometimes take for granted.  I also want to thank all of the emergency management teams and public safety servants for their dedication and hard work. As a candidate for state assembly I am humbled and grateful for people who dedicate themselves to public service in this way.  It is definitely an example of the appropriate role of government. Thanks to all of you!
