Written by Michelle Wilson

RioWisconsin.com would like to introduce a new section on the site called Flashback.  Recently members of the Rio Community Club formed a steering committee to form and create the Rio Area Historical Society.  As a show of support RioWisconsin.com will be posting historical photos, newspaper clippings and ads provided by the Society.

This column will be updated on a regular basis. To celebrate the forming of the RioArea Historical Society we will kick off the column with some highlights from 1965 Rio Centennial.  This small book documented the Rio Centennial celebration June 25th-27th 1965.  The book consists of 55 pages which will be revealed a few at a time.  Please check back often for the newest pages released.

Enjoy through page 5 of the Rio Centennial below!

Daniel Shaniuk - Lydia Noble     | 98.27.167.xxx | 2008-09-13 17:35:48
I recently found an autograph book in a second hand shop. It's circa 1880's. The owner was a Lydia Noble from Rio, Wisconsin. Does the name show up in any of your records? If so are there any surviving relatives? Some of the autographs are Sarah Ingram, James Jobbins, Ole Nelson, Carrie Annis, Clair Hogart,L Ritter, Nettie Brown, M. L. Carter,Frank Richards, Anna Thomson, Charle Deprey, Chris Williams, Sam Scott, James Guskill and others. If there is interest please e-mail me at dshaniuk@aol.com. Thanks, Dan
