dance1.jpgEvery year prom comes and goes in a flash.  It is a time for numerous pictures, fancy hair and nails, girls looking glamorous, and boys looking handsome.  The cafeteria was covered with purple, silver, and black decorations that transformed the lunch room into something beautiful.  When everyone worked together they really made due with what they had to work with.

The class voted on five couples to be on court.  The couples were Emily Borde escorted by John Lange, Kristin Olson escorted by Robbie Fugiel, Ashlee Scott escorted by Calvin Canales, Sara Borde escorted by Grant Moon, and Susan Berg escorted by Jarrad Hovland.  Once ten o’clock rolled around the court made their grand march and stood up on the stairs in the center of the cafeteria. The decision for king and queen was decided by a random rose.  This meant that the couple who received the white rose would be the kind and queen, while the rest of the couples received a red rose.  It turned out that Sara and Grant opened their purple packaged flower and saw it was the white rose.

The couple put on the tiara and crown and led the court in dancing to the song “Chasing Cars”, by Snow Patrol.  Soon afterwards the rest of the court joined in with the dancing.  The rest of the night was filled with people eating graham crackers and drinking punch.  A few familiar songs like the “Cha Cha Slide” were a hit, or people just showing off their own moves.

When the night died down it didn’t matter that there were only 30 students present at best, it was still a fun night.  With the picture taking, getting all dressed up, and the preparations beforehand, it was almost worth the work.  For having a small class, and not wanting to have a prom in the beginning, the juniors pulled off a better night than what was expected.
