This year I am proud to be starting my fourteenth year of employment for the Rio Community School District. In reflection of these years of service to the children and families of the Rio Community School District, I can sincerely say that the communities that make up our Rio School District have a reputation for being supportive, giving, and helpful. A reputation you should be very proud of!
The Rio Elementary School teachers and staff will be taking time this academic year to collect information and analyze and problem solve a number school and community projects with their students. For this, we need your help. If you are in need of assistance on a project that our elementary school children could help with, please contact me. (A number of classes are still in the planning stages of their service learning project)
As we proceed to help give back to our schools and our community, we also have a number of local groups offering to help the elementary students and their families. (A number of individuals and groups have donated school supplies.) If your child is in need of school supplies or if their supplies have run low, please contact your child's teacher. We appreciate receiving school supplies so much and thank those who have donated!
The winter months and cold weather are fast approaching. A local group has contacted me recently and they are willing to help children in need of new winter coats, hats, mittens, and boots. Give me a call if you would like assistane from this group. On behalf of the Rio Elementary students and staff we appreciate this group giving and sharing to help our students. In analyzing our service learning projects, a major objective will be the importance of helping others. Through my years of experience in Rio, it seems to come naturally that this community gives and shares. It is with great hope that the reputation that Rio has gained will continue through our next generation.
